US lady arrested over 9 year overdue video rental

When a South Carolina lady, Kayla Finley, went to report a crime about harassment and stalking at a police station, she got a nasty surprise.  She was arrested over a warrant for her arrest issued in 2005, charged with "Failure to return rented video cassette" and had been kept overnight according to prison records.

In 2005, Ms Finley rented the romantic comedy Monster In Law on VHS tape, a film directed by Robert Luketic that was poorly rated by critics.  She claims she never received anything about the tape and that if she had, she would have dealt with the issue immediately.  However, what happened was that she changed address, so several police warnings about the overdue video rental were sent to her old address.

According to the local TV station, Fox Carolina, she was "shocked and disgusted" over her arrest and said "This is a bogus charge and everyone knows it" going by Fox's Facebook page.

She will appear in court a later date and told Fox Carolina "I fully intend on fighting this".
