Users complain en masse about Microsoft's new Outlook Android app

A recent update to Microsoft's Outlook Android app has disappointed many users. Reviews about the the latest update of the app in the Google Play Store are mainly negative. The update was a major overhaul of the interface of the app and the main complaint appears to be the fact that not all  recent emails show directly in the inbox. Another issue is that users are unable to delay the update, anyone accessing a previous version of the app is forced to update to the new one.

Instead of a regular inbox, Microsoft shows 'focussed' emails by default when the app opens. Emails end up in the focussed box when Microsoft's algorithms decide they are important, emails that it decides are less important will end up in the 'other' inbox.

An user writes, " Had no option but to download this app, as the old one will no longer allow me to use it. Loved the old one! But this is by far the worst app for emails. Will be Uninstalling and sticking to the good old reliable desktop version."

Another one writes, "Nothing like trying to quickly check your email and finding an unwanted update that changes everything in numerous major ways and then it takes you fifteen minutes to actually get to the one email you wanted..."

Other complaints are that the app is battery hungry, that notifications don't show and that deleted emails pop up again.

The update to the Outlook app was released on the 3rd of September and with 10,000, 000 to 50,000,000 installations one of the most popular Android apps.
