Voicelok launches world's first voice secured USB drive

As USB flash drives are quite easy to misplace, users interested in preventing data theft usually have to rely on software to unlock the drive each time it is plugged in. Even if the software does not require elevated user privileges to run, this can still be a problem with certain computers, such as public coin-operated Internet PCs or photo printing booths where the user may not be able to run any software at all to unlock their flash drive.

Voicelok overcomes this with internal security that requires speaking the correct password into its built-in microphone to unlock. The device uses various nuances and frequencies to determine if it's the authorised voice and password to unlock.

Should there be an issue with the user's speech, such as laryngitis, the flash drive's security provides an alternative method of security to unlock, which involves recognising and responding to a specific sequence of flashing colour LEDs. Like the user-spoken password, this LED combination is also configured by the user when initially set up.

Voicelok claims to be the world's smallest flash drive using both voice and colour LED sequence protection. The flash drive has 8GB of capacity, covered in stainless-steel and measures 2.5" x 0.75" x 0.25" (aprox. 64 x 19 x 6 mm.) The USB flash drive is plug-and-play and does not require any drivers or software to install and designed to be user-friendly for non-technical users. It is also backed with a lifetime guarantee.
