Vuze releases Leap, a lightweight BitTorrent client

Vuze is a well known BitTorrent company, whose primary torrent client has evolved into a complex program with virtually every feature that can be imagined.  But Vuze has been listening to user requests for a very simple alternative, and  they have now produced a beta version of Vuze Leap, designed to have a very basic interface and take fewer resources than their main bittorrent client.

As Claude Tolbert of Vuze stated,  “We sought to deliver a simpler experience as a counterpart to the powerful, full-featured core Vuze BitTorrent Client that has pleased millions of users for years. Even with file-sharing being a part of internet usage for years, we continued to hear, from some users a desire to have a simpler experience that was less resource intensive,”

Vuze Leap offers the user a built-in search interface, which means you can look for torrents without ever having to leave the program.  Most of the search results seem to be from Google, though there are other sources available.

At the moment, Leap is only available for Windows users, though support for other operating systems will be forthcoming.  If you wish to download the beta version, you can find it here, though you will have to provide an email address so that you can confirm your application to the beta test.
