Windows 10 build with kernel version 10.0 pops up - OneCore ready?

The Chinese website IThome.com and Russian AngelWZR report that a new build of Windows 10 shows that Microsoft has drastically increased the kernel version from 6.x to 10.x. Build 9888 is the latest version of Windows 10 that has been spot but the build is not generally available. With the previous release of Windows 10 Technical Preview (build 9879) Microsoft stated it would be last release of Windows 10 Technical Preview in 2014.

If Microsoft sticks to that promise, the next Technical Preview version will be released in 2015. The major kernel increase seems to indicate that Microsoft has made a large change to the Windows architecture, which in its turn can indicate it's readying the OS for OneCore, the operating system architecture that should run on consoles, smartphones, tablets and desktops and likely many other devices.

Proof of the existence of kernel version 10.0  was also provided by Russian AngelWZR who posted a screenshot of statistics where the build version is clearly visible.

To indicate how big of change this is for Microsoft, Vista was kernel 6.0, Windows 7 has 6.1, Windows 8 has kernel version 6.2, Windows 8.1 has kernel version 6.3, previous Windows 10 Technical Preview versions used kernel version 6.4and this latest build now has kernel version 10.0. The major increase of kernel version number could break drivers and software that identify the Windows version with hardcoded kernel version checking.

Buildfeed, which tracks all Windows builds,  reports that they've also spotted kernel version 10 to find the next day that Microsoft went back to version 6.4.
