From those numbers it's clear that the market share of Windows 10 is rapidly growing. In October this year more than 27% of the gamers had switched to the OS.  Gamers are in the forefront of users that have switched to Windows 10.

Steam is mainly a Windows platform, 95% of its users is on Windows. Of those 20% is on Windows 8.1 and 44% on Windows 7 which remains the most popular OS amongst Steam users.

The popularity of Windows 10 for gaming will likely get a big boost next month when more games will be released that support DirectX 12. The new graphics API should result in better performance of video hardware and only becomes available for Windows 10.
