WinMetro Beta released: Metro UI for Windows XP, Vista and 7

If you have been watching the news, you've probably heard about the Metro GUI, the new tile based interface that Microsoft has introduced in Windows 8. The interface is officially only available in Windows 8 and Windows RT (the tablet version of Windows 8 )  but some smart guys from Iobit have now brought it to Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. This company is best known for their anti-virus software but it seems their skilled developers are able to do more. The system requirements seem amazing as Iobit lists them  as a 300Mhz CPU,  30MB of RAM and 15MB free HDD space.

Of course it isn't the full Metro interface, but Iobit writes on their site that it has widgets to display weather information, calender, news and stocks. Also frequently used programs will get their own tiles and WinMetro also has the option to boot directly to the Metro interface.  The download is free and only 5.17MB in size.
