Xbox One Blu-ray drive is noisy and has issues readings discs

The most active topic on the Xbox One support forums is about read errors caused by the optical drive inside Microsoft's latest console. Users complain about the Xbox One not reading the disc and making a clicking and crunching sound. The console also has trouble reading the disc. While there's a disc is in the drive, it continues to ask to insert one.

Microsoft seems to give owners of the problematic consoles a couple of solutions, restore system settings  (which doesn't help), get a refund or go back to the store for a replacement. Unfortunately shipping a replacement drive will take at least a couple of days as most retailers don't have replacement drives in stock.

This results in many disappointed Xbox One purchasers who were looking forward to start playing with the console they were waiting for.

The Xbox One contains a Blu-ray reader manufactured by Philips & Lite-On Digital Solutions (PLDS). The SATA half-height drive has model number DG-6M1S-01B and comes with firmware version 3253.
