Yahoo! wins right to reveal PRISM Court papers

Now that PRISM is in the open following former government contractor Edward Snowden's leaked revelations last month, Internet search giant Yahoo! has revealed it is far from happy with the way the US Government and the National Security Agency (NSA) has handled PRISM from day one.

PRISM

So much so that Yahoo! has taken action against the US Government to ask for Court papers relating to a 2008 Court case to be declassified.

This could be extremely significant as the 2008 Court case is widely regarded being pivotal in allowing the NSA to set up PRISM.

Given the controversy regarding PRISM, and Congress's denial that it authorised wholesale data snooping, this should be a very interesting read as Yahoo! has applied for permission to have the right to publicise the documents it submitted relating to the 2008 case, and even more crucially, the US Government’s response.

Now, rather surprisingly, the Court has ordered that these documents be declassified and it appears that soon all will be revealed.

So "watch this space and wait for the fireworks!"
