Rumors from earlier today are confirmed as Youtube has announced their music service Youtube Music Key. The service is currently only invite only, users who are invited receive a free subscription for six months, after which they have to pay $7.99 (discounted price from $9.99). Users subscribed to Google Play also receive access to Music Key
Youtube Music Key provides ads-free music, background play and offline viewing. It will also include a subscription to Google Play Music, with 30+ million songs, expert-curated playlists, and Google will soon add the ability to watch many YouTube official music videos right from the app.
According to Google "biggest music fans" get access to the service first, after that the company brings YouTube Music Key to the rest of us.
