DVD-R/RW Writing performance
DVD-R Media Write Quality:
In these tests we will be using a Lite-On SOHW-1693S drive with firmware KS0A along with K-Probe to measure the disc quality. We will also be using the ASUS DRW-1608P2 itself with firmware 1.0a for our read-back tests.

This media produces high PIF error levels that quite concern us. Luckily, the transfer rate curve is smooth.
DVD-R/RW Summary:
The ASUS DRW-1608P2 is quite optimized to burn high quality DVD-R and DVD-RW media with good to excellent results. The drive can also overspeed high quality media such as Taiyo Yuden 8x DVD-R with very good result at 12x write speed. In the area of DVD-RW, the drive produces average to very good quality burn however we still would like to see some improvements.
