A closer Look at Power2Go

Power2Go—the All-Media Disc Burning Software

Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD Ready

Power2Go ensures that you are ready to burn both Blu-ray and HD DVD data discs. New support for HD DVD data burning means you now have storage capacities of 15-30GB while Blu-ray disc support gives you access to 25-50GB disc space.

Power2Go is also capable of creating audio, MP3, and WMP CDs, and MP3 or WMA DVDs if launched from PowerStarter from the icons that describe the task.  You may also use Power2Go for CD duplication is simple: put in your source, select your destination.

Enhanced Security; Power2Go allows you to create secured data discs to protect documents, video files, pictures, and any other data, from unwanted access. Power2Go encrypts files on-the-fly during burning, reducing the two step process of first encrypting files to the hard drive and then burning them to a single time-saving step. All files are password protected and AES 128 bit encrypted, and you can choose if you want file names to be hidden or visible when a secured disc is browsed normally. All secured discs contain CyberLink’s Secure Disc Browser, which is run directly from the disc and allows regular file handling on any PC without requiring additional CyberLink software to be installed.

For our first test we will write 4.25GB of data to the new “color background” LightScribe Verbatim DVD+R media; Thanks to Verbatim USA for providing this media.

We first opened “PowerStarter” by clicking on its icon on our desktop; selecting “Make a data DVD”.

This opens Power2Go

From here we setup our burn

Having selected “burn” we get the “Configuration” Windows

Once we have our burn configured, click “OK” to start writing.

Let’s take a look at this disc after the burn

Before we move on, let’s put Power2Go through another test; we have a SL BD-ROM “Basic Instincts” saved to our HDD.  We will burn this to a Verbatim BD-R disc, thanks to Verbatim USA for providing this media.

The resulting disc is playable with our standalone BD Player (Samsung BD-1400) as well as on our test system using PowerDVD software Player which is included as one of the components of the CyberLink DVD Suite Ultra.

Now that we have tested a couple burn capabilities of Power2Go, let’s open up “LabelPrint” and have a closer look at that component.
