Summary and Conclusion
Positives and Negatives:
Like you have noticed also in other reviews there is no software out yet, from which we can say that it is perfect and on which we have no negative points to add. Let us now list up the main positives and negatives we have found.
Positives:
-
Simple and easy to use interface
-
Good and easy to understand explanations for terms you may not know
-
Good manual
-
Supports DivX
-
Supports Motion menus
-
Good looking and enjoyable transition effects for photo slide shows
-
Intelligent features
Negatives:
-
Very poor SVCD quality
-
Very limited and buggy photo editing
-
Bad sound quality on DVD+/-VR discs
-
Limited video editing (missing multi cut)
-
DivX trial version
Conclusion:
PowerProducer 3 enables you to
create good quality video DVDs with nice looking menus in a relative short time
and it supports the most common ways to transfer a video file onto the PC
(direct form TV, from a digital camcorder or VCR). The software offers a lot of
nice features, such as its integrated, so called intelligent features; the
manual is well structured and shows us in a very simple way how we can use this
software. One other thing we liked very much is the DivX support; it is just a
pity that the included DivX pro is a trail version and limited to 6 month of
use.
But due all the nice features we shouldn’t forget about the negative points that we have found. Here are three main features that require strong improvements; the first is the very poor SVCD quality. Ok, someone can say that the amount of people who create SVCDs is very low but we must have an eye on people who don’t have a DVD burner too and it’s not acceptable that the VCD quality of the software is far better than the SVCD quality. The second feature is the photo editing functionality. Here we must add that we would have liked to see more functionality and also a better compatibility the main application itself. Last but not least, we have to add the negative experience with DVD+/-VR sound quality.
Final Word:
PowerProducer 3 Deluxe is indeed what CyberLink promised; it’s a very easy to use and interesting software, especially created for average users which are relatively new to video editing and also for users who don’t want to spend much time in front of the PC to edit their videos.
We can recommend this software as long as you want to create video DVDs, VCDs, DivX and not SVCDs or DVDs in any VR format.

, as when I burnt a DVD it halves the horizontal resolution from 720 to about 360, making ikky vertical blind effect. I tried twice - once from image file, once from DVD folder. :r :S Using the so-called good quality setting, as the high quality needed about 6 GB. The good was about 3 Gigglebytes :+ which is the original file size. Using Nero, I finally burnt an image file made by Flick DVD, and perfect original quality at least, if no nice menus or chapters. :c Disgusting waste of so much time desining the beautiful menu with 3 different backgrounds.
