Print quality:

Now let us take a look at the Print quality of the Nexis 100AP Publishing System. Here we are going to compare the print quality of the Nexis 100AP Publishing System with the EPSON Stylus Photo R320 printer.

We will first need to make sure the Nexis 100AP Publishing System is set at its best print quality.

Print Preferences

Advanced Options

For our EPSON Stylus Photo R320 printer we will be using the Text and Image setting in this test because it is very close in quality to the Photo and Best Photo setting for CD and DVD printing and it also uses much less ink.

Epson Properties

The Epson R320 took and average of 3 minutes and 13 seconds to complete printing while the Nexis 100AP Publishing System took 5 minutes and 35 seconds. Both print times were averaged using the printed full face printable discs below.

Our first print was done using a Taiyo Yuden WaterShield inkjet printable CD-R. With the Nexis 100AP Publishing System on the Top and the Epson R320 on the Bottom, you can see both images are very crisp and clear on this top quality printing medium.

Our next print was done using an Optical Quantum Liquid Defense Silver inkjet printable DVD. With the Nexis 100AP Publishing System on the Top and the Epson R320 on the Bottom, you can see both images are crisp and clear, but the Nexis 100AP Publishing System has brighter colors and better defined shadows.

Our next print was done using an Optical Quantum Liquid Defense White inkjet printable DVD. With the Nexis 100AP Publishing System on the Top and the Epson R320 on the Bottom, you can see both images look very good but the Nexis100AP Publishing System again has much brighter colors and better defined shadows using this medium.

Our final print was done using Microboards Taiyo Yuden TYG02 White inkjet printable DVD. With the Nexis 100AP Publishing System on the Top and the Epson R320 on the Bottom, you can again see both images are nice and clear but the Nexis 100AP Publishing Systems colors are better defined especially in the darker areas.

Epson R320

The Nexis 100AP Publishing System did a very good job printing images on all the different types of Inkjet printable media. The colors seemed to be a little brighter and the shadows more defined than the Epson prints. The prints took a few minutes longer than the Epson R320, but we feel this speed difference is a fair trade off for the better quality the Nexis 100AP Publishing System offers.

On the Next page you will find the conclusion…

Actually, it will run on 64 bit processor but what it can't run on is 64 bit operating system (64 bit vista or windows). It's easy to get these two mixed up though.

After realizing I purchased the wrong unit (printer and not publisher) and after burning through 5 disc without a good (not great) alignment, I am in the process of returning the unit to Amazon. This was a mission critical component and no one picked up at XLNT tech support - I will look at the Rimage line instead.

Don't go with the Rimage. Wal-Mart uses them in their PhotoCenter and they have software/firmware issues all the time that keep them from running consistently. Customers and technicians are both frustrated. Other brands are more stable in the software and firmware arena.

Thanks Terry. I returned the crappy Nexus and purchased a Epson Discproducer - WOW! Not so much because the Nexus was just a piece of junk, but the Epson knocked out 1500 disc for me in several hours without one coaster. Well worth the extra 2k. Still wondering what machine was used for the review and how all these people produced anything decent with the Nexus, which is also branded by Synergy and another as the Systor DiscMaster. Even funnier, any other reviews I found on the Web gave this thing awful ratings. Hmmm...
