Media Compatibility

In this part of our PlexWriter review we’ll test how fast the drive can write different CD-Recordable media. Of course we tested every disc afterwards if errors had occurred as you can see on page 8: Write Quality . In the table below we’ve, as always, summed it all up for you:

Plextor PX-W4012S Media Compatibility

From the tested CD-Recordable media only the discs manufactured by TDK were written at a lower speed than they were certified for. However, since both the Taiyo Yuden and Dixons media were written at a higher speed than certified for and since the other media were all written at maximum speed (40X), the PlexWriter achieves a good result.

From the tested CD-ReWriteable media two discs could be written at a higher speed than certified for. This is thus also a good result.

To conclude our review we will take a look at how far the PlexWriter can overburn and if it can handle 8cm CD-RW’s and 99 minute CD-R’s…

This is by far the best audio ripping software out there and is acknowledged throughout the web as being so. This is used by almost ALL the groups to rip the cd's before they release them.

"For a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of 9 USD the drive is yours..." Sweet hook me up with the store selling them at that price!

Hmm it's supposed to say $ 319. It seems there is a bug in the system that deletes the dollar sign when it's followed by a number. I've corrected the error now. Thanks for noticing

I agree this is a great piece of rippig software, but if you have a Plextor drive, nothing beats PlexTools at DAE. Never though I'd find a program better than EAC, but it happened. :g

There's not much to say about EAC apart from its the very best audio CD ripper available to date.I can tell you now,you WONT find any better than this. A downside is that some users may find it difficult to configure to begin with but if you take a look at many tutorials on various websites,it will help you to correctly configure it and begin ripping "exact" copies of your CD collection. Of course if you own a Plextor then Plextools is good competition.
