Nero Vision and Multimedia, and our final thoughts

Nero Smart Vision Xtra

The first part of our Nero Smart Vision Xtra suite will be the Nero Vision.

Nero Vision offers all the typical encoding in DVD, AVCHD, BLU-RAY, VCD, SVCD it can also Capture Video and also allow you to make a slideshow, but the improvement is on the HD material that this suite is offering. The user has the option to apply various kinds of filters that will add a more professional feeling to your movies, or you can get into the advanced mode of editing and play with the extra options on video and audio. The updated Nero vision has also a very good and fast encoding engine, and as a plus to that it supports CUDA, so this will lower your encoding time.

Here is a screenshot to give you an idea of some of the editing features of Nero vision.

The second part is Nero Media Hub. With Nero media hub will play music, DVD’s, Videos and also it will display and edit pictures on your computer.

There are a lot of different functions that this application has, but we will try to point out some of the highlights starting with the photos. You can remove the annoying red eye from your picture, apply some filters, or you can view them as a slideshow, and why not publish them to the internet or burn them on CD, DVD or BLU-RAY.

Here is a sample screenshot.

You can also watch your favorite videos and DVD’s, listen to music using Nero Media Hub, again you have the option to publish your files of burn them as audio CD or MP3 CD. At this point we want to say a few more things about the publish function that Nero now features. When you click publish a new window will appear on the bottom of the application that has all your optical drives that can burn CD’S, DVD’s and BLU-RAY. But you also get an upload button; this will open a new window asking you where you want to upload your files. It has five options, MyNero, YouTUBE, MySpace, Flickr and Facebook.

Here is a screenshot of than window.

Final thoughts

To summarize this preview of the new Nero Multimedia Suite 10 we have only positive words to say. The overall feeling is that Nero did a very good job of making a suite that demands a place on your hard drive, and it also offers lots of goods in return.

Starting from the improved loading times, the CUDA support and going on to the publish option of Nero media suite. It’s very hard to fit all the new features and improvements that Nero offers in only two pages, but we got the message.

We believe that this multimedia suite is one of the best you can get.

Nero Multimedia Suite 10 is now available. Click here to download Nero Multimedia Suite 10.

It was just a preview _chef_, not a full review. This means basic functionality was tested, but not everything in detail.

1.8GB? LOL. I'm still humming along with v8, so I'll pass. Nero has become a real pig lately. I miss the slim days.

Same here about the size. I think Nero Burning ROM 5 use to be a ~15MB download on its own and the extras such as Nero Vision and In-CD could be downloaded separately so you just downloaded what you were interested in installing/using. The current 293MB size is definitely quite large, especially for anyone on a satellite, 3G or RADSL connection which typically have a tight cap or very limited speed.

I think the reason they went the multimedia suite route is due to most of the basic burning functionality now built into Vista & 7. For example, Windows 7 has built-in data/audio CD burning, ISO image burning and packet writing support (even if rather late now), with the only things left specific to Nero Burning ROM being the advanced features such as disc file system options and the creation of bootable discs.

The demo version of nero 10 isnt that big, the file that Liggy got has all the extra features (templates, help files, and more) so 300mb fro a trial version it's not that bad, but then again i dont care how big is the application, the only thing that i want is to work fine, and so far it's working very good.

Yea, but you have to have xp sp3 to get it to work this might force some people to up grade and myce will probly be getting questions on it. I tried to install nero but the last time my computer crashed I lost service pack 3 and can't get windows to upgrade it so I'm out ,I would of liked to try it.

So this won't install on my Win 3.1 rig? This is an outrage and completely unacceptable. I refuse to upgrade every time a new OS comes out. Do they at least have a version I can run from the DOS prompt?

I would ask if it is true that you may buy only the ROM program for less cost?

I use 6.6.1.15a and it is only 35 meg large size. Is 10 to use .NET and is even more large in size? Is it bloat and not as good as before?

                                    Thank you

@work we have a stoneold element analyser and its dos based software only runs using DOS or Win 3.1. The PC is a 486DX2 (I think 80mHz, HDD is around 100MB, don't ask about RAM), The analyser is connected via a PC card (ISA port). The system has been build in 1994.

                                        Hope V 10 is faster than V 9!
Wasted $100 on Nero 9 only to find that it won't install on Windoze 7 properly and on both XP and Win 7 runs at speeds somewhat slower than a Glacier.
Currently still using Nero 6.5 as it works and in my lifetime.

                                        Note to the folks at Ahead;
If it works, don't mess with it! The last thing we need is more "Bloatware", Bill Gates has already cornered that market.

You can always try the demo version and if you are happy you can go back to 6.5, but for the moment i dont have any issues with speed, and my system is not the fastest out there.

Not sure about the problem with Windows 7 and V9, I have no problems with it at all. V8 was slow and 9 is slower loading. I can only hope 10 is better but I won;t hold my breath. Perhaps someone needs to do a good code cleaning on their software, like Microsoft needs to as well.... These programs tend to be like the healthcare reform bill, 10 times bigger than necessary and full of things that have nothing to do with what healthcare, except the health of someone's wallet....

I tried to do the upgrade and after having to manually type the serial number, it takes me right back to the main screen. Annoying bug guys, please fix .....

I have purchased the Nero 10 Burning ROM download and not the full suite of programs and it is 77 meg in download and does not come with extra programs. My Nero 6 Ultra main was 30 meg in download by contrast so 77 meg when you factor in new burning technologies and formats seem to be acceptable and not too large. So far I am pleased with the results.
