What is Optical zoom

Most camcorders are packed with an optical zoom lens, a lens that is capable of bringing an object closer. Not literally of course. On average the camcorders have 10x to 20x optical zoom. Optical zoom often delivers a better image than digital zoom. Please note to use a tripod if you want to zoom strongly with optical zoom.
