Target Rewards Card - How to Apply Online

Those shopping for food, household essentials, and clothes at Target will certainly reap a lot of benefits from the Target RedCard™ Credit Card.

The rewarding system is different with this card, as you won’t have to add up points. Instead, they offer a 5% discount for anything you buy.

It’s more of a savings card than a rewards card. Let’s find out more about the Target RedCard!

Features of this Card

This card offers a 5% discount for all purchases at Target with no annual fee. 10% discounts are offered on the cardholder’s birthday when they sign up for the marketing emails from Target.

A limited-time offer provides 10% discounts on hotel bookings through Hotels.com starting on December 31, 2020, and ending on March 31, 2021. Cardholders receive gifts, exclusive offers, and a head start on promotions. They also receive free shipping (standard shipping), two-day shipping for items that qualify, and a 30-day extension for returning any purchased items.

Having the 5% discount applied at checkout instead of waiting until you can receive a reward is a plus. However, there are some exceptions to the 5% discount. It won’t apply to Target gift cards, prescriptions, prepaid cards, or Target Optical eye exams. For a list of all exclusions, it would be best to visit their terms and conditions.

Benefits

For those who shop at Target often, the Target RedCard™ Credit Card is a very rewarding card. It offers a 5% discount on Target purchases, both in-store and online at target.com. A 10% discount is offered yearly on the cardholder’s birthday (signing up for Target’s marketing emails is required).

The 5% discount applies to a few types of certain gift cards, for example, gift cards for movie tickets, restaurants, travel, and purchases made at Starbucks (the one located inside Target).

If you don’t end up overspending, these benefits can actually help you save a considerable amount of money per year on a very wide range of products for an annual fee of $0.

A few other loyalty benefits offered by the Target RedCard™ Credit Card include gifts, a head start on specific promotions, and exclusive offers. These offers count a lot for those who will fully take advantage of all the perks offered.

Take into consideration that free shipping is available for those who don’t have a card, as well, as Target offers free shipping for purchases for over $35.

Eligibility and How To Apply

A lot of customers stated that their card request was approved with a credit score of 620 or higher, but some even said that they were approved with scores as low as 500. The rule still applies, though, that the higher your credit score is, the higher chances of approval you have.

If you suspect that your score is too low for a Target RedCard™ Credit Card, then you should work on it for a few months prior to applying.

To apply for a Target card, click the Apply now button from the provider's site. You will have to fill out an application form with personal information (your income, address, and name). When you are done, take a second look to make sure the information is correct and then hit submit.

Fees and Interest

Like other store cards, it has a high interest rate. The APR is variable and starts at 22.90%. If you tend to carry a balance, you might want to reconsider getting this card, as the interest charges might end up exceeding your savings.

Other fees include a late payment fee of up to $40 and a returned payment fee of up to $29.

Summary

This card offers a lot of benefits, but the most important one is that the results can be seen immediately. Unlike other cards, you don't have to wait until you can receive a reward, this card offers it straight up when the cashier rings up your products. Remember, with a 22.90% APR, make sure you don’t keep any balance at all.

Note: There are risks involved when applying for and using credit cards. Consult the institution's terms and conditions page for more information.
