Mozilla is not happy that Microsoft is working on a new version of Edge that will be based on the open-source Chromium project that was once started by Google. The developers of Firefox argue that by adopting Chromium, “Microsoft hands over control of even more of online life to Google”.
Adobe yesterday issued an emergency update for Flash Player after a critical vulnerability in the software was actively exploited. The vulnerability was discovered by security researchers from Gigamon and 360 Core Security. Attackers exploited the vulnerability in an attack on a Russian hospital.
Microsoft is reportedly working on another operating system that should compete with Chrome OS, the lightweight operating system developed by Google and intended for cheap laptops. The company previously attempted to bring such an OS to the market as “Windows 10 S”, which failed and was phased out earlier this year. This time the company is allegedly working on a foldable tablet that should run a lightweight OS called “Windows Lite”.
Google today released version 71 of its Chrome browser. The release should strengthen security of the browser. Another important change is in the advertisement filter system of Chrome which will start to block ads on sites that persistently display annoying ads.
After numerous problems with the Windows 10 October 2018 Update, Microsoft today released a large update that should fix many issues with the plagued Windows 10 update. The company released cumulative update KB4469342, which Microsoft claims, has been thoroughly tested by Windows Insiders since the 27th of November.
