Another story from CeBit as Microsoft announced that it wants to continue its growth of the last year(s):
At present Microsoft has nearly 1300 employees in Germany, the bigger part of them in the company's headquarters in UnterschleiéŸheim near Munich. Microsoft wants its turnover to reach a two-digit growth this year and in the next one. But the combine did not give any details on the exact sum.
According to Sibold one of Microsoft's big issues at present is software security. "It is clear that we will have to do a lot of work here", he said with regard to the vulnerabilities of Microsoft products that often have made the headlines in the last years. In Hannover even Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has declared "reliability" of software products to be the most important issue.
As reported company founder Bill Gates in January had announced via mail to all Microsoft employees a new strategy named "Trustworthy Computing". In the future the software giant no longer will focus on better features but on security and data security. One concrete step has already been made: In February 2002 Microsoft has put the development of Windows into cold storage and has put its 7000 programmers on to vulnerabilities and bugs in Microsoft products instead.
