Differences between Nero Burning ROM and Express

Two days ago we reported that Ahead will release a new software product called 'Nero Express'. Today our friends at CDRLabs.com have posted the differences between both products:

Nero Express has most of the features found in the OEM version of Nero 5.5. Of course the question lately has been what capabilities are NOT found in Nero Express. One of my contacts at Ahead Software sent me some information on Nero Express. This information included a nice comparison chart of the features found in the OEM version of Nero Express and the OEM version of Nero 5.5.

Here are some of the features found in Nero but NOT in Nero Express:

  • Ability to create a Mixed Mode CD. You can still copy Mixed Mode CD's with Nero Express but you cannot create your own. Ahead software wants you to use the new CD Extra format if you need to put audio and data on the same disc.
  • Ability to create a Hybrid CD (HFS/ISO)
  • Ability to create a CD-ROM (UDF 1.02)
  • Ability to create a CD-ROM (UDF/ISO 1.02)
  • Nero Wave Editor
  • Hard drive partition backup

Those are the only differences. I doubt many people actually use these features on a daily basis anyway. All of the other features found in Nero 5.5 will be in Nero Express 5.5. Of course the interface will be a lot more user friendly.

What else does Ahead Software have in the works? Ahead Software has been very quiet about this, but there has been some talk about them getting into the video editing market and give companies like Sonic a run for their money.
