According to this press release, LaCie will begin shipping the d2 external, dual format drive this month. The LaCie dual DVD±RW Drive features write speeds of 8x and rewrite speeds at 4x, allowing you the ability to burn a 2 hour DVD movie in less than 10 minutes. Featuring a FireWire and USB 2.0 connection, LaCie's drive can be used while connected to any PC or Mac computer.

The drive comes bundled with a USB 2.0 and FireWire cable, a power adapter, and DVD utilities CD-ROM. The latest version of Easy CD & DVD Creator for PC users and Toast for Macintosh users is provided, allowing DVD video authoring for both platforms. MSRP is going to be around 249 dollars US.
