Malaysia seeks new sniffer dogs after major success

Since the time Malaysia took on two sniffer dogs trained to sniff out CDs and DVDs back in March on loan, they have helped Malaysian find over 1.3 million counterfeit discs in nationwide raids on warehouses and shops.  The dogs were so successful that Malaysian criminals have threatened to kill the dogs.

Now the Malaysian government aims to obtain a pair of sniffer dogs from Northern Ireland by next year to replace Lucky and Flo that they have on loan.  While the original two were loaned by the MPAA, they were also trained in Northern Ireland.  Unlike dogs that specialise in sniffing out drugs, these are specifically trained to sniff out the chemicals used to make CDs and DVDs.  However, as there is no way for the dogs to determine whether discs are legitimate, each suspect parcel sniffed out by the dogs needs to be have its discs verified by the police handlers.
