Netflix Instant Viewing on TiVo launched today

The Netflix Instant Viewing service on TiVo launched today, bringing over 12,000 on demand movies and TV episodes to the fingertips of Neflix subscribers who own a compatible unit. Netflix ready units include the TiVo HD, TiVo HD XL and TiVo Series 3 DVR models.

TiVo users can initiate the service by going to TiVo Central, Video On Demand and taking note of their activation code. The activation code must then be entered at http://netflix.com/activate. Once the TiVo unit has been activated for Netflix service, movies and TV episodes will be available within the TiVo interface in the Netflix Instant Queue. Subscribers will still need to add titles to their Instant Queue from the Netflix website.

A TiVo representative said, "TiVo offers consumers everything they need from just one box. Not only great content from Netflix, but also movies from The Walt Disney Studios and Amazon, music from Rhapsody, videos from YouTube and even pictures from Picasa Web Albums and Photobucket. And that's all in addition to TiVo's core functionality that made us a favorite in the first place. It adds up to a one-of-a-kind value."

A Netflix TiVo partnership certainly makes sense for both companies and I am sure that people who subscribe to both services will be extremely happy with the new integration. Netflix has been partnering with multiple hardware companies recently to bring their Instant Viewing services to a wider audience. Instant Viewing can now be utilized on compatible LG Blu-ray players, Samsung Blu-ray players, the Xbox 360 and the Roku Netflix box. Additional hardware partners are expected next year.
