A little while ago we reported about a new copy program called "The Cloner". interceptor has been so kind to do some tests with the new software. The results weren't good:
 We all know about this new software released not long ago that made great claims about being able to make a 1:1 copy of your software. Being has I have lots of time on my hands, I thought I would give it a whirl. It takes about 20 minutes to setup as it interogates your cdrom drives for its capabilities. So after this had all finished, I finally got a chance to give the program a try with Safedisk 2. It took quite a while too read the disk, and recommends you use your writer to read and write, as it is able to detect and copy protection more so than your standard cdreader. The results were very poor too say the least. Operation Flashback refused to play, as did several other protected games. I am afraid to say that until someone comes up with something better, CloneCD is the only program able to produce a 1:1 playable backup of a protected game. |
