New decentralized P2P system

smk used our newssubmit to tell us:

Not directly related to burning, but here is maybe something to help fill CDs.

Quote from the site:

NetMess is a file sharing system. Like Napster, NetMess provides you with:

- the ability to share your files with other netmess users

- download shared files by other users

Unlike Napster, NetMess is not centralized, it does not rely upon a master server. In this respect, it's closer to the gnutella network technology and can't be stopped or restricted.

This also gives NetMess the ability to run on LAN environments and to serve as a real nice information sharing system for small to middle sized companies allowing everybody to search and retrieve documents without having to remember the exact location of them.

Unlike Napster, all file types can be shared (audio, video, archives, iso whatever).

NetMess is anonymous, no names, no identifiers and can run through HTTP Proxy (at your office for instance).

The NetMess Client runs on any platform supporting Java, only the NetMess node is CPU dependant. Hopefully the NetMess client can connect to a distant node providing full access to the NetMess network to all machines.

NetMess also provides a Clone functionality allowing you to find replicas of a file you were downloading and which is not available anymore

Seems like napster is dead... But his clones are not. So many millions put into the ending of napster, but they can't seem to catch that there WAS a reason that napster was so popular. (for me i could get there cheap music, coz in a shop i pay it lots & lots more).
