No official firmware updates for NEC 3500 yet

GristyMcFisty used our news submit to tell us "I touched base with NEC Europe via the website with regard to them updating their firmware to include Ritek Dual Layer media codes RITEKD01 on their 2510A and 3500AG drives. At this moment in time I can only write to discs with this code on my Lite-ON 832S drives, although the English is not perfect it would appear they"ll only release updated firmwares once they"ve tested the drives with the media and are happy with the results. Personally I hope they hurry up, since I"d like to test both of these drives Dual Layer capabilities out. Also it has to be said at this moment in time this Ritek produced media is the stuff at a vaguely realistic price, i.e. £3.98 inc VAT on average."

"Dear Customer,Thank you for your request. At this time, there is no firmware updates for the ND-3500a Series available. As soon as our engineers and technicans has testen in the nec-labors more and different brand dl medias, and their results has the mark "quality constantly" and "quality and specs ok" or "quality and specs acceptable", the medias will included in the next available firmwares. This will be then available for download on our website, www.necd.de or www.de.nec.de under the Section Support&Service-->Downlaods...

Kind Regards,
