The Russia Journal reports that in Russia, the country where you are able to
buy pirated CDs almost everywhere, a large pirate CD manufacturing
plant has been seized. The plant located in Moscow produced about 40,000
pirated CDs and DVDs. The plant was located on the premises of a defense enterprise in western Moscow. About 30
people are in investigation regarding this case.
Two production lines operated 24 hours a day, producing up to 40,000 counterfeit CDs a day. The police also found eight storage facilities containing about 9m pirate CDs. The total worth of the seized assets, together with the production lines, was about $10m. Officials of the Anti-Economic Crime Department said disks were intended for sale in Russia and Europe |
