Although not officially confirmed by AT&T or Research In Motion (RIM), the BlackBerry Curve 8900 smartphone is expected to launch on AT&T networks next month.
This BGR image shows the back of a BlackBerry Curve 8900 supported on the AT&T network. AT&T already has an impressive BlackBerry platform available, and the 8900 will be cheaper than the BlackBerry Bold.
The Curve 8900 has been available on the T-Mobile network for some time now, but it was long expected to eventually find its way to Verizon Wireless or AT&T at some point. Since Verizon and AT&T are the two most popular mobile phone carriers in the United States, it's unlikely RIM would launch a new smartphone for a smaller network without having it ported over to Verizon or AT&T at some point, analysts noted.
The T-Mobile version has a full-QWERTY keyboard, 5.5 hours talk time, 15 days standby time, 3.2-megapixel camera, GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 2.0. The AT&T version will have the same hardware configuration as the T-Mobile 8900, except AT&T will have several new themes currently available on the BlackBerry Bold 9000.
Exact launch details are expected to be announced during the RIM Wireless Enterprise Symposium this week.
