Ritek
announced January 24 that they obtained certification for 8x DVD+R
DL sometime last week. According to DigiTimes, Ritek is only the third manufacturer, along with MKM
and Ricoh, to achieve this certification. Ritek has stated that they intend to
garner some 70% of the 2006 global market for DVD+R/-R DL discs.
there presently are only three makers, the OEM price of an 8x DVD+R DL disc is about US$2.5 higher than that for a 2.4x DVD+R DL disc, which ranges from US$1.90-2.00, Ritek pointed out. Production of 8x DVD+R DL discs currently has a high gross margin of about 50%. |
