Seagate introduces portable wireless HDDs

Sometimes there are companies you don't hear anything from, but right after a lawsuit against STEC, Seagate is now in our news again. Today the company announced and showcased a few prototypes that use D.A.V.E. technology. These hard disk prototypes are helped by the DAVE technology since this provides the hard disk with wireless storage capacity for digital files from mobile devices and PCs. DAVE, better known as Digital Audio Video Experience, supports BlueTooth technology which makes it easy to share data.

The DAVE hard disk will be available later this year and will be available in storage capacities up to 60GB. Besides a USB connection you can access your data through a browser and once plugged into a mobile device the HDD simply downloads documents from someone's mailbox. For now we only know that the company will start shipping the product around the end of 2008 through an OEM market.

Besides their new DAVE portable wireless HDDs Seagate announced other solutions. It seems the company is happy with all the attention around their lawsuit with STEC. Maybe the lawsuit is what we call a PR-stunt to make sure their product announcements will be written down...
