Slysoft releases beta version 4.0.0.0 of AnyDVD for download

SlySoft Inc. has released the first beta of version 4 of AnyDVD.  This update enables the use of CloneDVD to make a successful copy of DVDs using unreadable sectors as copy protection, although may not work correctly with other DVD-copy packages.  Until now, CloneDVD including other DVD copy packages would get stuck at trying to read the bad sectors, resulting in an unsuccessful copy.

For those that are new to AnyDVD, this is a driver that makes any DVD regardless of the region, playback restrictions or CSS protection appear as a region-free, unrestricted, encryption-free and Macrovision free disc to any DVD playback or copy package.  This means the user does not need to de-region their drive with a risky hacked firmware update for playing imported discs, be locked into watching adverts or copyright warnings or be restricted to certain DVD-copy packages in order to copy CSS protected discs for example.

This software also makes most Audio-CDs appear as regular unprotected CDs, thus allowing ripping and playback of the red-book audio tracks with any Audio-CD playback software.  Thanks to  JackiRipper2000 for letting us know about the following changes:

4.0.0.0 - 11 Sept 2004 (beta)

The only new, but very important feature:

- New: Option to remove "Protection based on unreadable Sectors":

If this option is checked, AnyDVD will change the .IFO files on the DVD in a way, that a copy program like Elaborate Bytes' CloneDVD will not try to copy the bad sectors of a DVD copy protection, and will be able to successfully make a copy.

This feature will probably not work with other copy programs or with simple file copy, because the bad sectors are still present.  You should leave this option unchecked, unless you wish to copy a DVD with CloneDVD.

A further history of previous versions can be found here.

AnyDVD is available for download as an 21-day full-version trial from their website here.  After the trial period, the software is available for purchase for US$ 39 through Slysoft's online store.   The Feel free to discuss about this beta release in this thread on our AnyDVD forum.
