Super Talent launches Godfather-themed USB keys

Storage maker Super Talent and movie studio Paramount have announced they've signed a licensing agreement for Super Talent to create a new flash line based on "The Godfather" movie series.

Trying to utilize the immense popularity of "The Godfather," Super Talent hopes to "capture the spirit of 'The Godfather'" with its latest line of USB flash drives.  Rather than ship the USB key with the movie preloaded, Super Talent plans to ship the drives with still photos and memorable quotes.

The first product will be the Godfather Pico flash drive, which will be available in storage capacities ranging from 1GB up to 8 GB.  Super Talent hasn't released pricing for the new USB keys.

Super Talent expects to begin shipping its first Godfather USB flash drive sometime this month.  New models based on the film will be released in the first few months of 2009.

Considering how silly the idea seems to be at first glance, it should be interesting to see if consumers are going to actually purchase the specialized USB key.

Storage makers continue to work hard to try and create new products -- both flash drives and HDDs -- that are catered to consumers with specific tastes.

Corsair has its Flash Survivor and Flash Padlock lines of USB keys, which are designed as extremely durable and water resistant flash drives and ultra secure USB keys, respectively.

Western Digital has created several pocket-sized HDDs that are able to carry up to 320GB of data in a form factor the same size as a Nintendo DS.  Iomega introduced a 250GB 2.5-in. HDD that has a military camouflage theme capable of withstanding additional punishment than other HDDs.
