An interesting and extensive test of Verbatim 8x DVD-R Dual Layer discs is available at CDR Zone, with plenty of detailed pics showing test results for each drive used.
In this review, 5 different burners was used:
1) Pioneer DVR 111D [OEM] with firmware version 1.29
2) Samsung SH-S182 [Retail] with firmware version SB03
3) Optiarc AD-7173A [OEM] with firmware version 1-01
4) Plextor PX-760A Premium [Retail] with firmware version 1.05
5) Liteon-It SHM-165P6S [Retail] with firmware version MS0R
Moreover, VSO Inspector from VSO Software was used for gathering information about the recording speeds available for the Verbatim 8x DVD-R Dual layer media on each of the review recording devices, and CD-DVD Speed was used to record a test DVD of maximum capacity to see if the review recording devices achieved their maximum recording speed.
