Windows XP vs Big brother? *update*

I remember the time everybody was concerned about MS spying on us through the internet. What apps are installed? Did he/her pay for those apps?

Well, lets forget about that. Something "new" has arrived!

Please read this to learn more:

Michael Anderson, president of New Technologies, says data "scrubbing" features in Windows XP Professional will make it impossible for federal agents and law enforcement to find and reconstruct digital evidence buried on computers, particularly those seized from terrorists.

While Anderson concedes that XP's data "scrubbing" and encrypted file system features are desired by law enforcement and others for keeping data secure, he says the timing of XP is bad.

What I think of this? I dunno! At 1 point, I kinda like the idea nobody can spy on me (can't they?). On the other hand, the possibility of preventing terrorist actions and catching child-porn-criminals sounds good.

After some thinking, for me goes that it's OK the FBI/CIA etc can access a harddrive, but only when it's needed for some serious stuff (like mentioned above..).

In reactions below I read that some people really disagree with me. I can imagine, I wouldn't want anybody to be looking on my harddrive. I think almost nobody ever will because we aren't intresting enough. Though the possibility of looking on Osama's harddrive is a good one. If that simple piece of technology can save thousands of lives, I like the tech.
And as we always lived without it, I think we still can. Firewalls are really good protections you know!

OK, I know I'm an idealist since we all know how the tech may be used against us for lame actions by lame companies such as the RIAA. And yes, that's a bad thing, I agree.
I just hope everybody agrees that this is a small fee to pay when it's concering peoples lives etc.

About our privacy? What privacy? As soon as you go on the net, your privacy is gone! Even without it, there's no privacy anymore. You payed with your bankcard in a computerstore for 50 CDRS? Now the RIAA knows you got a CDRW drive. No privacy, whatsoever!

After all, I think I belong here... I am against the offending of our privacy, but I'm also against terrorism!
