Microsoft has removed update KB3004394 from Windows 7 systems because the company received many reports of Windows 7 users with issues after installing the update. Yesterday Microsoft also withdrew an update for Exchange Server.

The KB3004394 update contained updates for root certificates in Windows but caused issues for many Windows 7 users soon after its release last Tuesday. Users reported they could no longer install several drives and also some applications did no longer work as intended. Affected software included built-in applications like Windows Defender and Task Manager.

Microsoft states it has released an update to Windows 7 users that removes the affected KB3004394 update from their system. According to the company this should solve the issues Windows 7 users reported. AMD already advised users to not install the affected update or to deinstall it.

The amount of failed updates seems to be something that happens more often than before.  Yesterday Microsoft withdrew an update to Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 SP3 and we reported also update KB3002339 for Microsoft Visual Studio appears to be buggy. Microsoft had to withdraw more updates this year, in August an update to Windows 8.1 caused boot failures, in September the company withdrew an update for Lync and in November an SSL update caused issues.
