Amazon makes a deal to add Viacom shows to Prime Instant Video

Amazon has been aggressively expanding their selection of streaming video content by inking deals with a number of companies. The newest deal is with Viacom, which is resulting in an estimated addition of 2,000 titles.

The deal with Viacom was detailed on Amazon's front page on Wednesday, February 8. Amazon told customers that the deal adds a host of new content from MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, TV Land, and VH1. Amazon says a total of 2,000 new titles are being added to Prime Instant Video.

If you've got kids and subscribe to Amazon Prime you'll get access to Nickelodeon content like Yo Gabba Gabba, Dora the Explorer, iCarly, and Avatar: The Last Airbender. More adult classics like Strangers with Candy, Hot in Cleveland, The Sarah Silverman Program, and Chappelle’s Show are also included in the deal. If you happen to be a reality TV junkie, older seasons of The Real World, Basketball Wives, and The Jersey Shore will be available as well.

It's nice to see Amazon still going after streaming content for Prime. They are clearly pushing hard to become a competitor to Netflix. While Amazon's offerings are still a little anemic, deals like these are steps in the right direction.
