Avast ends support of Windows XP and Windows Vista next year

Antivirus vendor Avast will end support of Windows XP and Windows Vista next year. Avast Antivirus client version 19 will require at least Windows 7, according to the antivirus company in a message on its website targeted at business customers.

In July this year, Avast already warned home users for the end of support for outdated Windows versions. Businesses and home users who still work with Windows XP or Windows Vista can continue to use version 18. That version will continue to receive virus signature updates for detection of malware.

However, upgrades and updates of version 18  will no longer be released for Windows XP and Windows Vista users. Users of systems running either XP or Vista will still have the ability to download Avast Antivirus version 18.
