Bill Gates involved in development of Microsoft's "Cortana for businesses"

Microsoft is working on a new personal assistant for when at work. The application will become available for Windows Phone and Microsoft is rumored to be testing it internally. The software will be called "Work Assistant" and a prototype has been released to the Windows Phone Store.

According to the usually well informed Microsoft watcher Mary Jo Foley from ZDnet the assistant helps Windows Phone users with executing all kinds of business tasks, but unfortunately it's unclear what tasks exactly.

Bill Gates is also involved in the development, according to Foley. Recently he stated in a Reddit Ask me Anything (AMA) session that he's working on a personal assistant that "will remember everything and help you go back and find things and help you pick what things to pay attention to."

The idea, according to Gates, "that you have to find applications and pick them and they each are trying to tell you what is new is just not the efficient model - the agent will help solve this. It will work across all your devices."

Microsoft has been working some time already on the personal assistant that according to Foley will bring Cortana functionality to Office apps. The app only works on Windows Phone 8.1 and up and requires access to the phone's contacts and calendar.
