Buffalo announces its latest 6x BDXL writer with DTCP-IP support

Japanese hardware brand Buffalo has announced its latest 6x BDXL writer. The BRXL-16FBS-BK is available as SATA for internal use and as USB drive for external/portable use. The drive writes to BDXL discs at 6x, to BD-R discs at 12x and it writes DVD recordables at 16x.

It comes with DiXiM BD Burner 2013 software which will allow users to burn copy protected videos that are compatible with DTCP-IP (Digital Transmission Content Protection over Internet Protocol), a DRM flavor that  allow limited sharing of content with devices that also incorporate the DRM method. The technology is currently only supported by Hitachi, Intel, Matsushita, Sony, and Toshiba.

The BRXL-16FBS-BK will become available for sale in Japan by December this year and costs around $254,- for the SATA drive and $321,- for the USB version.
