Corsair rolls out new 90GB and 180GB Force SSDs

Corsair added two new solid-state drives (SSDs) to its growing Force SSD lineup, with the addition of 90GB and 180GB models. The memory and storage maker now has six products in its Force SSD series, and these models were designed to offer two mid-size storage capacities for consumers.

The Corsair Force F90 and F180 use the Sandforce SF-1200 SSD processor (like the other Force SSDs), sport a 2.5" form factor, and can provide up to 285MB/sec write and 275MB/sec write speeds.

Using the SF1200 platform helps provide a 4K random write throughput for the new drives. The drives can be used by gamers, video editors, and others looking to utilize the benefits of SSD technology. The Microsoft Windows 7-supported ATA TRIM feature has also been included by Corsair to help keep the drive running at an optimal level throughout their lifecycles.

Moving forward, the SF-1500 controllers are more expensive and have to pass stricter testing from manufacturers. The SF1200 is appropriate for regular PC users and home users, while the SF1500 will find a home among enterprise customers looking for even higher reliability with their storage devices.

The Corsair Force line is available with the following storage capacities: 40GB, 60GB, 90GB, 120GB, 180GB, and 250GB storage capacities. The new F90 is available for $189.99 MSRP while the F180 costs $399.99.

As manufacturers look to introduce new storage products, both HDDs and SSDs have seen major upgrades. Corsair, OCZ, and other SSD manufacturers now look to increase storage capacity, read/write speeds, and ensure SSD pricing continues to slide.
