DVD-Ranger makes SoundTouch 2 free and adds support for LPCM in MKV files - posts snarky post on Facebook

DVD-Ranger, in his usual snarky way, has repeated in a Facebook post that his CinEx HD Cinavia copy protection removal software doesn't replace audio files, but actually removes the Cinavia audio watermark from Blu-ray audio tracks.  He also mentions new CinEx version released earlier this month, one unlocks SoundTouch 2 as a free feature, the other adds LPCM support to MKV files.

The author of CinEx HD writes on Facebook, "With the latest release of CinEx HD comes movement in the forums. Because the people, who have always claimed that we would simply exchange the audio, are now in explanation need. How do we conjure 4GB uncompressed audio in 100 MB files? We hope that now also the last dips memorize that fanism is great but sometimes dumb. Greetings to all who have published lies. We are still here. And we are still the only one with a remover and also a detector. Weird, is not it? #RedFox #DVDFab."

The latest releases of CinEx HD, as mentioned in the post, add support for LPCM in MKV files and unlock SoundTouch 2 for users without a paid license.

SoundTouch 2 is DVD-Ranger's basic method of Cinavia 'removal'. If we understand correctly this method doesn't actually remove the Cinavia signal but distorts the audio in such a way that the Cinavia detector is no longer triggered. DVD-Ranger claims that the other method entirely removes the Cinavia signal from audio tracks which is made possible with databases that paid users of the software can download. This method has the advantage of  the best sound quality and also allows copies of copies. The SoundTouch 2 result has decreased audio quality and because the Cinavia signal is only distorted and therefore still in the audio, it's not possible to make copies from copies.

The other new feature is the support of LPCM in MKV files which should pave the way for LPCM support for Blu-ray titles. LPCM is an uncompressed audio format and allows compression by a codec of choice. DVD-Ranger writes the feature works with both CinEx HD's free SoundTouch 2  feature and the paid database option. However it's currently limited to the first 6 channels.

More information about the LPCM support can be found here, information about SoundTouch 2 that's now free here.

LPCM support is also what DVD-Ranger likely references to with his "How do we conjure 4GB uncompressed audio in 100MB files?" statement.  A quick test learned us that compressing a LPCM file with 7-Zip file certainly doesn't result in a 40x smaller file by far.

Last in the Facebook post is the usual reference to competitors, DVDFab sells CinaviaRemovalHD (review) and Redfox sells CloneBD (review) which both also contain anti-Cinavia features.

You can download CinEX HD here and if you're happy with it, you can purchase it for a one time fee of $39.99 here (save 15% when purchasing with Bitcoin).
