DVD-Ranger states on its website that the Blu-ray movie “A Million Ways to Die in the West” contains a new copy protection that prevents their Cinavia removal software CinEx HD Utility from doing its job. According to DVD-Ranger a fix is in the works.
On the DVD-Ranger website, the software developer states, “Currently there is an issue with “A Million Ways to Die in the West” Blu-ray copies. A new copy protection type hinder CinEx HD Utility to remove Cinavia. This is a temporary issue and fixed next 1-2 days. Until this time you can create an AVCHD or Movie Only Blu-ray disk copy with DVD-Ranger CinEx HD. CinEx HD Utility can process mkv or other video files / copies well. The problem is just for Blu-ray 1:1.”
The movie was released in May this year and is known to be protected by Cinavia. The exact details on this alleged new copy protection have unfortunately not been disclosed. More information about Cinavia can be found on this page.
