Facebook, Instagram, Myspace down - LizardSquad claims to be responsible [updated]

The hacker group Lizard Squad claims to be responsible for a massive internet outage, which brought down Facebook, Instagram, Tinder, AIM, Hipchat and Myspace earlier today. According to the group Twitter would have been down if it wasn't the communication platform of choice for them.

Yesterday the group also claimed to have hacked Malaysian Airlines and stole userdata from the airline. The hacker group has tweeted it will release this userdata later today. Instagram has tweeted the Facebook owned company is aware of the issues and working on a fix.

Update: While the entire world panicked over the downtime, it appears it took the social networking companies less than an hour to recover from their downtime. It's currently unknown what really happened and whether Lizard Squad was really behind the downtime as they claimed.

Update 2: Facebook has posted on their status page the Facebook and Instagram APIs recovered from a major outage. To solve it, they've "pushed out a fix".
