The release of Office Lens for Android and iOS was announced on Microsoft's blog. The iOS version of the app is currently available for free in the App Store. The Android version is currently only available as preview version. Users that want to test it have subscribe to a special Google+ community to get access to the app.

Office Lens works with the camera of a smartphone and is designed to scan documents. The borders of the document are automatically recognized. Once scanned, the image is enhanced to e.g. make text better readable. The scan can be automatically uploaded to OneDrive or shared with OneNote. The OCR technology of Office Lens can automatically convert text to a Word document. Business cards scanned with the app can be automatically converted to a contact on the phone.
