Google Announces New Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro Smartphones

Google has previewed its upcoming smartphone models, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro on Monday, to jump-start the smartphone season.

Besides, the tech giant also marked the beginning of a new Pixel series. From a mid-tier position with a limited user community, Pixel moves to a premium line, placing it to better compete with top companies, Apple and Samsung.

The company showed a colorful array of smartphones packed with several advanced features. Also, it has the first-ever chip made exclusively by Google for the Pixel, as seen in the company’s website and Twitter account.

Pixel smartphones are expected to have better responsiveness, customization, and hardware security, according to Google. Thanks to a Tensor chip, which the company has previously used in AI hardware.

Google is the latest smartphone company to create its own processor rather than depending on third-party vendors, having previously partnered with Qualcomm for Pixel.

At the developer conference of Google in May, it unveils that a big Android design makeover, improved camera functions, and speech recognition will all be included in Pixel.

The Pixel 6 has a 90Hz refresh rate, a ”6.4 flat display, and wide and ultra-wide rear cameras. While, the Pixel 6 Pro has a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 6.7” slightly curved display. Aside from the comparable specifications, the Pro version also has a telephoto lens.

The Pixel smartphone has appealing look. It has extra room above the camera area, enabling the device to have 3 different color schemes. It boasts excellent design, displays, and cameras.

At the conference, the firm introduced "Material You," a new interface design that is more customized and "fluid" depending on a user's preferences.

It has larger buttons, wallpaper-based color schemes, and a huge clock on the home screen that adjusts in size based on the number of received notifications. It also promises increased speed, greater battery power, and less pressure on processors.

Google has not yet revealed the pricing of the new Pixel smartphone. But, if it aims to compete at the market’s top end, the price will most likely be about $1,000. The Pixel 5 price begins at $699, while the Pixel 4a with 5G is $499.

Google said additional information about the smartphones will be released this fall. The rare act of releasing so many features before an official launch might be a strategy to entice users who are considering upgrading their smartphone to wait.
