Google Chrome to end misleading download buttons annoyance

Google will built a feature into its Chrome browser that warns users for sites that try to trick users with false warnings and misleading download buttons. The developers of the browser want to protect users against sites that run advertisements urging users to download an "important update" or advertisements that resemble a download button for software.

These kind of advertisements are used to install malware or to steal personal information and are often displayed on misleading locations. E.g on a download page the advertisement containing a fake download button is better placed or bigger than the actual download link.

When Chrome now detects an user visits a site that is known to be serving misleading advertisements, Chrome will display a red warning screen stating 'deceptive site ahead' just like it does for websites with malware or an expired encryption certificate.
