Google has announced on its blog that the Google Drive desktop app will disappear from the 12th of March 2018. On the 11th of December support for the app will end. Google will replace the Drive app with other software.

Two other applications that make it possible to store files should replace Google Drive. These are Backup and Sync and Drive File Streamer. With Backup and Sync consumers can make a backup of their files and get access to their data.

Drive File Stream is targeted at business users. The software should save disk capacity and provide access to all Google Drive files, directly from the computer.
