HGC Brings Fibre Optic Network to Hong Kong

ICT service provider HGC announced on Wednesday, Jan. 20, the availability of the hyperscale-focused fibre optic network at a data center in Hong Kong.

In partnership with AirTrunk, the HKG1 data center becomes a key hub for the new and international connectivity with a cutting-edge fibre network. AirTrunk has embraced a new network center in December 2020, enabling HGC to offer robust fibre connectivity.

AirTrunk has converted the eight-story industrial building into a hyperscale data center with a record time of approximately 1.35 PUE. This data center can support operations in Hong Kong and in the wider region.

HGC’s technology allows data to link to others in the city, ultimately beyond the APAC. The robust fibre connectivity can be brought online within only six weeks, and customers can track how fast the network is.

Knowing that HGC’s network links to the home market with the rest of the world, it supports fast data-carrying between international and dispersed geographies. Hong Kong is one of Asia’s center location, containing a submarine of cables.

Hong Kong is a top choice for the deployment of the fibre networks for the existence of financial hubs and having a ‘healthy landscape’ for the data center. It’s estimated that Hong Kong’s data market can reach about $1.7 billion by 2023.

The location is a key driver for the growth, hosing the floor for the hyperscale companies and cloud operators. Hong Kong has the highest concentrations for the deployment of this new technology, arising data center market by 14 percent.

HGC AVP for global carrier data Thomas Lee said, “We have borne witness to rapid mounting demand for a data centre to data centre network connectivity services in Hong Kong. With state-of-the-art network infrastructure, far-reaching connectivity and software-based capability, we positioned to capture wider market opportunities.”

The technology helps not only to transmit data effectively but also to attend to the needs of enterprises in need of faster connectivity. Lee added that HGC’s powerful and cutting-edge fibre network has the ability to tailor to any client’s needs, seeking to expand operations.

The company also offers customized one-stop ICT solutions for corporations to diversify business and expand in Asia markets. It has collaborated with data centre clusters to enable enhanced connectivity solutions to reinforce the businesses in several regions.

HGC also expanded bandwidth-on-demand capability to Paya Lebar in Singapore for fast-track regional business expansion.
