HP has started to actively promote consumer PCs with Windows 7 again. The company is one of the first large computer manufacturers who actively markets the predecessor of Windows 8 as an alternative. Using the slogan 'Windows 7 - back by popular demand', the computer giant sells several Pavilion and Envy desktop and laptop model with Windows 7.
The computers also come with an additional discount which can save users up to $150. Other consumer PCs from HP are sold with Windows 8.1 by default.
It's been a while since large computer manufacturers like HP actively promoted the older Windows 7. Consumers who purchase a computer with Windows 8 / 8.1 could request for a downgrade of their license key to Windows 7, but most major manufacturers don't emphasize on that option and market their computers as running Windows 8.1
With the reintroduction of Windows 7 PCs in the consumer lineup, HP seems to reach out to consumers that can't be convinced to like Windows 8. Recent rumors say that also inside Microsoft there's a lot of criticism on Windows 8 and therefore developers are already working on Windows 9 which should become available in April next year.
